Christian Moueix, son of Bordeaux legend Jean-Pierre Moueix and longtime steward of Château Pétrus, brought his family's winemaking philosophy to Napa Valley in 1983 when he founded Dominus Estate on the historic Napanook Vineyard in Yountville—land first planted with vines by George C. Yount in 1836, making it one of the valley's oldest sites. 

The vineyard is entirely dry-farmed, letting the vines draw deeply on the land's unique geology, and its flagship Dominus is prized for its complexity, balance, and seamless, age-worthy structure, with the estate producing three wines total: Dominus, Napanook, and Othello. 

In 2008, Moueix expanded into Oakville, purchasing the Schmidt Ranch, sited between the renowned Missouri Hopper and Vine Hill Ranch vineyards, and replanted it primarily to Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, naming it Ulysses. The first Ulysses vintage was released in 2012. 

Where Dominus shows a silky, almost Pomerol-like lushness, Ulysses was crafted as its contrast—a Napa expression closer to a first- or second-growth Pauillac.

Together, Dominus, Napanook, and Ulysses form the core of the Moueix family's Napa legacy, extending its Right Bank Bordeaux pedigree onto some of California's most storied terroir.
